Santa Ynez Valley Arts will be presenting its next free, public Art Salon social mixer “An Informal Chat about the Life of Artist Channing Peake” from 5 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, in Stacy Hall at St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church located at 2901 Nojoqui Dr in Los Olivos.

Cherie Peake and her sister, Lesa Raber de Fernandez, will be sitting down for an informal chat about the life of renowned artist Channing Peake. Channing was widely traveled, and counted among his friends, acquaintances, and mentors Edward Borein, Diego Rivera, Pablo Picasso, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, and more. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage in a warm, intimate conversation with the woman who became his 5th and last wife. Cheri not only shared the last 10 years of Channing’s life, but she was a stabilizing influence – which helped him to continue with his art.

The Art Salons are social mixers, those who attend are encouraged to bring finger food appetizers to share and/or a beverage of choice, as desired. This is an opportunity to meet up with others interested in the arts and become more connected with the arts community within the Santa Ynez Valley in a casual and friendly environment.

The Santa Ynez Valley Arts Association (SYV Arts), a  501(c)(3) non-profit, is committed to expanding and supporting access and exposure to the arts in the Santa Ynez Valley, thereby enhancing quality of life in our community. SYV Arts sponsors art programs, events, communications, and other efforts that mutually benefit artists, businesses, residents, and visitors to the Valley.
