There is still space in three Saturday classes offered at Allan Hancock College’s Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) Center this spring. These classes are especially helpful for students in Lompoc Valley who have limited availability to enroll in classes during the week.

The classes offered include a six-week course in Essentials in Management (BUS 302), another six-week course in Sales & Marketing (BUS 303), and an eight-week course in Public Speaking (SPCH 101).

“The college designed Saturday classes for people who work during the week and don’t feel like taking a night class during the week,” said Rick Rantz, dean of the extended campus. “Saturday classes give them an opportunity to work toward a degree by completing a six or eight-week class near their hometown.”

The center, which opened last year, is located less than one mile from the main entrance gate to Vandenberg Air Force Base. All classes at the Vandenberg AFB Center are open to the public. Counseling, financial aid and cashiering services are also offered at the center. Rantz said entry to the base is hassle-free and simple for students.

“Access to the Vandenberg AFB Center is easy and students do not need to be a member of the military to attend,” added Rantz. “Students only need to show a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and car insurance prior to the first day of class to receive a pass for the length of the course.”

This spring the college will also offer an Elementary Statistics (MATH 123) course on weekday evenings at the VAFB center.
