Scotty McCreery, winner of the 10th season of Fox’s hit series “American Idol,” is coming to the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 20. Tickets for the show are $35, $45 and $55.

McCreery became interested in music at the age of five after receiving a book about Elvis from his grandmother. Until this day, McCreery attributes Elvis as his biggest musical influence and inspiration.

Throughout elementary and middle school McCreery participated in every musical program available and was even asked to sing at his middle school graduation. Switching from tenor to bass his sophomore year of high school, his vocals quickly caught attention as he was singing in both his school and church choirs. His high school choir instructor invited him to participate in her vocal ensemble, Die Meistersingers, which performed across the country.

In 2010, at the age of sixteen, McCreery auditioned for season ten of “American Idol” where he immediately caught the favor of the judges. His most acclaimed performances on the show were Carole King‘s “You’ve Got a Friend” and his hip-hop twist on country singer Montgomery Gentry’s “Gone.” By winning the season’s finale, McCreery became the series’ youngest male winner and second youngest winner overall. He went on to release his debut album Clear as Day with its hit single “I Love You This Big.” This single became the highest debut of any new Country artist since 1990 and was certified gold a few months after its release.

Since his booming debut McCreery has released three albums, including a Christmas album Christmas with Scotty McCreery. Other albums include hits such as “The Trouble with Girls,” “See You Tonight” and “Feelin’ It.” On May 3, 2016 he released his biography “Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream.” In this book McCreery shares with his readers his personal journey to success and the importance of always remaining true yourself. He says “You get on the show and your life changes but you as a person don’t have to change.”

Don’t miss an opportunity to see this country idol in the making when he takes the stage in one of the most popular music venues in Santa Barbara County.

Located on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez, California, the Chumash Casino Resort is an age 21-and-older venue. Tickets for all events are available at the Chumash Casino Resort’s Club Indulge or online at www.chumashcasino.com.
