Teen Star is thrilled to kick off their ninth season of showcasing talented teens in Santa Barbara County! If you are a 7th – 12th grade student attending a Junior High or High School within Santa Barbara County with a dream of becoming the next Teen Star, now is your chance to register for an audition! Contestants must apply online no later than November 5, and only the first 100 applicants with completed application & signed parental agreements will be granted auditions. So don’t wait–Learn more about eligibility and requirements.
This year’s new schedule has an earlier audition in place, which will allow participants an extended period of time to work with TeenStar’s celebrity mentor before the Finale Showcase in February. Teen Star Executive Producer and Founder Joe Lambert wanted to maximize the contestants’ experience with their mentor, pointing out that [2017 Mentor] “Kenny Loggins provided valuable suggestions, but with only two weeks before the Finale Showcase performance, it was not enough time for the kids to really implement his advice.”
The Teen Star producers decided to move auditions earlier in order to accommodate an extended mentorship period and actualize these ideas.
The Teen Star Showcase has dazzled Santa Barbara County for eight seasons already with a professional concert experience complete with red carpet entrance that makes area youth feel like superstars. Contestants interview and audition before a panel of judges before ten semi-finalists are chosen to perform and compete in the Teen Star Showcase in front of live audience and celebrity judges from the music industry. The judges and live audience voting on the night of the performance will determine three finalists and the winner. The winner receives a $1,000 scholarship and the prestigious title of Teen Star Santa Barbara.
With an emphasis on instilling professionalism and rewarding hard work, Teen Star is much more than a singing competition. TeenStar offers a professional platform where teens can flourish and showcase their talents in a healthy, supportive environment. TeenStar also offer seminars and workshops on auditioning, and instructive feedback for contestants, as well as mentoring sessions for finalists. Teen Star® then provides opportunities for the winners to be seen and heard at important civic events throughout the county.
