More than 500 acres have burned in the Rey Fire near Paradise Road between Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara, according to fire officials.

The fire started Thursday afternoon just before 3 p.m. near the White Rock Campgrounds, said Mike Eliason of Santa Barbara County Fire. He added there are several structures threatened and it is growing at a fast rate.
