The public is invited to attend the “Infant/Child CPR for Family & Friends” class specially designed for family members, friends and caregivers to learn specific Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques to be used on children from newborns to 8 years old.

Cottage Health Educator Tina Collins, RN, MSN, ICCE demonstrates Child CPR.

The class will be held at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) on Mon., April 30, 2018, from 6-9 p.m. in the front conference room of the hospital located at 2050 Viborg Road in Solvang. Based on American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for the public, the class is led by Tina Collins, RN, MSN, ICCE, with the Cottage Health Education Department. Collins has worked in patient education with Cottage Health for more than 30 years and has extensive knowledge of these critical life skills.

“Anyone who wants to learn the special techniques necessary to help young children should attend. What you learn in three hours could save a child’s life,” Collins remarked. At the end of this class, participants will be able to discuss causes and prevention of injury and cardiopulmonary arrest in children and demonstrate how to administer CPR and first aid for choking infants and children.

The class fee is $25.00 per person and pre-registration is required by April 25, 2018.  Participants must be over 10 years of age. Please register in advance online or visiting https://www.cottagehealth.org/classes-events/ or by calling (805) 569-7325.
