Staff report

Most weather stations around Santa Barbara County recorded between 1 and 4 inches of rain in the storm that blew through on March 21 and 22, including 3.1 inches in Buellton and 2.91 in Santa Ynez, according to county figures.

The highest total was recorded at 5.35 inches on San Marcos Pass. Overall, the county is averaging about 50 percent of normal rainfall so far this year.

While meteorologists and emergency-response officials warned of possible flash floods and debris flows below recent burn scars during the storm, the area escaped major damage.

Meanwhile, the rain provided many photo opportunities, including clouds over Solvang captured by George Rose, and Nicole Alegria Jones’ photo of her family members as they watched Quiota Creek flow over Refugio Road.
